Positioning Statement
I would say that there is a mixture of things that give me my personal identity, the music I listen to, to the sports I follow, the clothes that I wear and enjoy, who I choose to surround myself with, my family and my morale’s and views. We are all a product of our own environment, so making sure that I don’t allow myself to be someone or act like someone I’m not, that’s taking myself away from being that product of my natural environment.
My specific interests also have a major role on my personal identity, like my love for the craft beer industry, it’s not even the drinking and the variety it brings to just drinking a beer, but the culture around it and the sheer focus on independent breweries and local collaboration is what I love. Using local collaboration brings in such a diverse playground of creatives and businesses that can supply high standard products, with a real meaning and of course, a creative look to the product and unique selling point.
This is where I believe my skills can be really utilised in this industry, along with my eye for fashion, my growing knowledge of how to brand and market and utilise the products and merchandise for a craft beer company. Pin-pointing my expertise, it would be my creative direction, I believe my visions and outcomes for all my work in the past year have been heavily linked to my career expectations, a have organised and planned all my outcomes with a clear idea and brief for my collaborators. My other strengths consist of my creative writing skills, I love immersing myself into a brand/idea/collaboration and sharing my opinion, humour and knowledge to back up my pieces. Going back to my point on diving into the culture of the craft beer industry, the collaborations you see, the events that are held and constant creativity on new releases, creative writers and social media marketing teams are the back bone of pushing out a message or product, and I believe with my creative direction and writing skills, along with my growing craft beer and trend knowledge, I would be a solid asset to any marketing team within the industry.
Professionally, my plan for the shorter run would be to get involved with a brewery marketing or social media team, whether that’s as an assistant, in an internship or a bigger role. On top of this, I already work at Northern Monks tap room every Saturday, so getting involved with a marketing team during the week would give me a solid balance of learning two different sides of the industry. The Long run plan would to be either run a social media/marketing team myself within a brewery or go that step further and run my very own taproom, or a creative space that would be a bar/café and clothing store, this is the ultimate end goal for myself. This is long into the future plans for myself, before I even consider anything like running my own place, I need years of experience, training and knowledge of the catering, business and marketing side of things.
